Servicemen complete Atlantic sail

After spending nearly two months at sea and missing
Christmas with their families, a group of servicemen has
successfully rowed across the Atlantic.
The Row2Recovery team, which includes four amputees who lost
limbs whilst on duty in Afghanistan, set off on December 5 from the
Canary Islands in a bid to raise £1 million for injured
soldiers.
After rowing 3,000 miles in 51 days as part of the Talisker
Whisky Atlantic Challenge, the six brave men arrived at Port St
Charles in Barbados where friends, family and even Cliff Richard
were on hand to congratulate them.
The team would have ensured they were prepared before they left
by having boat insurance, as they were forced to battle harsh
conditions, birthday milestones and hairy moments - like nearly
running out of water.
Row2Recovery co-founder, Alex Mackenzie, who served with the
Parachute Regiment until 2008, said: "There were times when we
thought we wouldn't see this moment."
The 33-year-old added: "It's hard for it to sink in, there's
been so many ups and downs in the journey."
