Our yacht insurance policy is designed to give you all year round cover, with different levels to choose from, depending on how you use your yacht.

If your boat is damaged whilst in its permanent marina berth, we won't charge you an excess and it won't affect your No Claims Discount.

Yacht insurance exclusions

  • Wear and tear

  • Corrosion

  • Loss of value because of age and use

  • Loss of value to your yacht after it has been repaired

  • Loss or damage to masts, spars, sails and rigging whilst racing, unless previously agreed

  • Sails split by the wind or blown away whilst being set (unless attached spars are also damaged)

Further exclusions may apply or vary dependent on level of cover chosen. The above exclusions are standard across each of our four policy options.

Yacht insurance FAQs

  • Is my craft covered whilst racing?

  • Yes, we can extend cover to include the masts, spars, sails and rigging whilst racing.

  • Can I use my craft single-handed?

  • Yes, however only during daylight hours and excluding racing.

  • Is my craft covered whilst laid up ashore?

  • We provide full cover for your boat all year round.

  • Am I covered to sail my craft to France?

  • Normal cruising limits are for UK coastal waters. If your craft is suitable we can extend your cruising range accordingly.

Yacht insurance claims promise

Our claims team

If you need to make a yacht insurance claim, our team of RYA qualified claims handlers have the knowledge and understanding to make claiming as easy as possible.

In fact, our team received the UK Broker award for claims in 2011. The team was also shortlisted for the award in 2012. If you need to claim, they're available Monday to Friday, 8am to 5:15pm.

Your yacht insurance claim

The phone number in your policy documents will put you straight through to the team or you can pop them an email with details of your claim. Alternatively, visit our contact us page for our claims departments and other customer services. Your own personal claims advisor will talk you through the details and explain the next steps, guiding you through every step of the way.

There aren't even any forms to fill in. Your claims advisor will fill in a 'Statement of Fact' form with you over the phone then simply email you a completed form for your records.

91% of people we surveyed about their claims experience said they were happy with our service, If you feel otherwise, please let us know and we'll do our best to rectify the situation.

You can rely on us to act within 24 hours of being notified of your claim. If you've provided us with new information on an existing claim you can count on us to get back to you in five days.

When it's time settle your claim, we will provide timely payment via BACS straight in to your bank account or by CHAPS to the supplier.
