Empty offices plan for new firms

The Prime Minister has announced that hundreds of empty Government offices will be offered to people looking to start up their own business.

Entrepreneurs will be offered low rates for 12 months in a bid to give them a good start, and David Cameron hopes the scheme will boost the UK economy too.

More than 300 spaces that are not used a great deal or which lie completely vacant will be offered to small businesses or new companies, and some of the cash they save could be used to arrange business insurance.

Cameron said: "The British Government has a huge stock of buildings at our disposal.

"The first priority for the ones we aren't using is to sell them off, but in the meantime, many are going to be sitting idle.

"So let's match the capacity we've got with the need that's out there. Let's provide office space where we can to those who can use it."
