Caravan dealer appoints apprentices
In times of recession, young jobseekers are often the
hardest hit. However, a Shropshire caravan dealer has done its bit
to buck the trend by employing two 16-year old apprentices after
two weeks' work experience.
Salop Leisure motorhome and caravan dealership, which is based
in Shrewsbury, initially offered Ashley Lutwyche and Daniel Taylor
2 weeks of work experience at the company, but were so impressed by
the teenagers that both were offered full-time jobs when they left
school.
The two boys are now employed as engineering apprentices at the
firm, and are very aware of how strong a position they are now in,
compared to their former classmates of Sundorne School and Sports
College in Shrewsbury.
The emphasis firms like Salop Leisure put on engineering and
repair expertise is a timely reminder of the complexity of caravan
maintenance, and the importance of caravan insurance.
Head of Customer Services at Salop Leisure Viv Jones said:
"Salop Leisure recognizes that young people are the future.
Apprenticeships have always worked well for me."
