Top tips for first-timers exploring Europe in their
caravan
The freedom of caravanning is one of the main reasons
why people take up this wonderful pastime. Indeed many even go as
far as taking their home from home overseas via ferry, which opens
up all of Europe for their touring adventures.
However, there are a number of things to consider carefully
before planning a trip overseas, such as who will save the day if
you have a problem with your caravan or trusty towcar.
If you towcar breaks down in the middle of a foreign country,
who will make sure your caravan and all your belongings get back to
the UK safely?
Equally, if you are involved in a crash and your caravan cannot
be towed then who will make sure that it gets back to the UK for
repairs?
Towergate offers customers travelling overseas a few options in
these unfortunate scenarios, from emergency travel home and caravan
repatriation, to replacement accommodation in the event that you
want to carry on with your holiday.
In the past, Towergate has paid for customers to stay in guest
houses and hotels or even paid for them to buy camping equipment,
so that their holiday is not completely ruined.
Edward Cross, Towergate insurance expert, said: "For those
thinking of taking their caravan overseas for the first time this
year, we would advise them to make sure they have adequate
insurance cover.
“When we hear from someone who has crashed overseas, our primary
concern is to ensure that the customer is safe and well.
“We then tend to take each case on its merits - some may be
traumatised, some may be keen to keep going and not let it ruin
their holiday. We try to accommodate each customers’ requirements
as far as we are able.”
