Two What Car? Gongs For Land Rover

Two What Car? Gongs For Land Rover

It was a double whammy for Land Rover as it bagged two gongs at the What Car? Awards.

The Land Rover Discovery 4 was named the 4x4 of the Year for the seventh time in a row, while its latest model the Range Rover Evoque, won the Reader Award for the most exciting car of 2011.

What Car? editor-in-chief Steve Fowler said: "We've loved the Land Rover Discovery ever since we made it Car of the Year in 2005 and this is its seventh What Car? award - an amazing feat.

"Nothing can beat its 4x4 abilities combined with executive car quality and family friendly features - it's a real iconic car."

The Discovery 4 is set to receive an update with a new version of the 3.0 LR-TDV6 engine, which is touted as a powerful parallel sequential turbocharged diesel engine that will churn out lower CO2 emissions and display an impressive fuel economy.

The Land Rover's award winning terrain response system will also be boosted with two new features - hill start assist and gradient acceleration control.
