Rowing scull insurance features

Each level of cover includes third-party liability (damage that you may cause to another person or property) and cover for up to 30 days in Europe. You can also add the following extra features:

Prefer to spread the cost of your policy?

Paying by direct debit is an affordable and convenient way to pay for your policy. Through our preferred provider, Premium Credit Limited (PCL)*, you have the option of setting up a Direct Debit to pay your premium in equal monthly instalments.

Exclusions

Rowing scull insurance exclusions

  • Wear and tear

  • Corrosion

  • Loss of value because of age and use

  • Loss of value to your boat after it has been repaired

  • Scratching, denting or bruising while your scull is being transported

  • Albania, Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Eire, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Republic of Macedonia, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal (excluding Azores), Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain (including coastal waters of Canaries, Madeira, and the Balearics), Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, Vatican City

Does the policy include legal cover?

Yes. Our rowing scull insurance policy includes legal cover with a 24 hour helpline.

Am I covered if I take my boat outside the UK?

The policy does include European cover but is limited to 30 days. If you think you will be taking out side of the UK for longer periods than this, speak to one of our advisors.

What steps do I take if my boat gets seriously damaged and I need to make a claim?

If your rowing scull gets damaged you need to speak to us immediately on 0844 892 1320. If it's possible, take photos of the damage and record the names and addresses of any other sailors involved - much like you would if you had a car accident.

What will the policy excess be on my rowing scull insurance?

The excess of our rowing scull insurance starts at £50.

Your rowing scull insurance claim

Should you need to make a claim, or if you need to discuss a potential claim, please call us using the number found in your policy documents. Available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, UK-based team of advisors will advise and guide you through each step of the claims process, right the way until settlement.  

With no forms to fill in, only a Statement of Fact form which will be completed by your claim handler over the phone when you notify us of your claim, we pride ourselves on our easy, hassle-free claims procedure. Furthermore we guarantee to act on your claim within 48 hours of being notified, and within five days should you provide us with new information on an existing claim. Most important of all, when your claim is settled we will ensure payment via BACS straight in to your bank account or via CHAPS to the supplier.

You charged me twice for my insurance which left me financially disadvantaged for a while. I did get my money back eventually though.


On 27-Jul-2015 the supplier responded:
I was disappointed to read that you were charged twice for the renewal of your Marine Insurance policy. In reviewing your policy, I've noted that on this occasion an unexpected technical error occurred which resulted in your over payment. At Towergate insurance we are proud of the service we provide our customers and we were sorry to hear on this occasion that the service received was not of the high standard that you can expect from us. I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for the inconvenience this matter may have caused you. The renewal notice came in plenty of time and the renewal process was straight forward and easily managed.

I contacted towergate when I discovered my boat suffered a rupture to the hull after hitting an underwater log on the river Trent and started taking on water, so much so the water was over my floor panels inside of 2hrs. After ringing for assistance as I was in risk of my boat going under in the night I was repeatedly offers a survay to see what the problem was and would come out for £75 even though I have breakdown cover. I told them its an emergency but was told they would do nothing. I was left to spend the night bailing water untill I found somewhere to pull me out. Not only did towsure abandon me to sink into the river but simply used my dire predicament to try making money out of me. I could have lost my home if it was not for a local boat yard and a fellow boater. I nearrly lost everything.
