FAQ - Military Charities, Clubs and Associations Insurance

Here are some of the questions we are often asked about our Military Charities, Clubs and Associations Insurance. If you can't find the answer to your question here, please contact us and a member of our team will be glad to help.

General

Who is the insurer?

We offer a number of policies from QBE (Europe) Ltd for clients with a military connection. Otherwise, we do business with a wide range of Towergate Underwriting Partner Insurers.

Can the cover be taken out immediately?

Yes, cover can be taken out immediately via our telephone Contact Centre. Cover is subject to receipt of payment, a completed proposal form and satisfactory claims history.

Are claims dealt with in-house or by the insurer?

Some claims are dealt with in-house by our dedicated claims department, while others must be administered by our partner insurers’ own claims teams.

Charity Insurance

If you can't find the answer to your question, please call us on 01438 739 739 and speak to our experienced Hospice and Charities team.

Do I need separate insurance for a fundraising event I'm organising?

Most fundraising events are automatically covered by this insurance, whilst for others we may need additional information. When you begin planning your event, give us a call on 0116 240 7766 and we can usually give you immediate advice on what we would need to provide you with cover.

Are volunteers covered?

Yes, our definition of an Employee includes both paid and volunteer members of staff hence full cover is extended in respect to Employer's Liability cover.

Do I need to extend my policy to cover the changes in the Corporate Manslaughter Act?

No, you do not need to extend your policy. Corporate Manslaughter has been included within our policy since the Act came into force in 2008.

If we hire equipment such as Portaloos for an event do we need extra cover?

In terms of public and employer's liability you are ok. For the equipment itself your hire agreement will probably make you responsible for damage and hire charges lost by the hire company because they can't hire the equipment to other customers for a period of time. With our policy you are automatically covered up to £7,500 worth of equipment plus £10,000 for the hire company's continuing hire charges, so again you will be ok unless you need higher limits covered, in which case, please let us know.

Club Insurance

Why do you need to know my annual turnover?

We need to know your turnover to assess the size of your business. This can influence the premium and will affect what cover is available.

Can I be covered instantly?

Yes, the second that we have confirmed your cover and set it up over the phone, you are insured from that point on. We will then issue your documents and policy presentation packs first class or by email if requested.

If I find a lower quote will you match it or better it?

Towergate Insurance are able to negotiate rates with a panel of UK Insurance Underwriters, so please contact us if you already have a quote with another business insurance provider and we will see if we can save you money on your business insurance policy.

We offer entertainment for our clients and have had trouble obtaining an insurance quote due to this. Is this something Towergate is able to cover?

Yes! This is a frequently asked question and we use a panel of top insurers who are able to accommodate pubs and restaurants as well as other venues offering entertainment.

Can you cover personal contents?

Yes we can offer personal contents cover through all the insurers we use. Which insurer will be most suited to your needs will be dependant on the amount of cover required.
