Challenges Facing the Social Care System: Survival of the Fittest

Cuts to the social care sector combined with a change in the demographic will mean that the need may start to out-weigh the capabilities of the sector. Martin suggests that a move towards localism is a step in the right direction towards dealing with these issues. He comments, "I have always been disappointed that local authorities do not seem to ask care providers their views when they are planning services". Martin goes on to explain that care providers should not wait for the lead to be taken. Rather, they should take the lead in working to build relationships with local authorities in order to share knowledge and tackle challenges head on.
