There are many fantastic caravan sites across the UK, so wherever you want to head and whatever your interests you'll be able to find a great place to park up your caravan and explore. Here are some of our favourite destinations to visit.

The New Forest, Hampshire

There is a great deal to do in the New Forest, including seeing the famous New Forest ponies. It's an ideal location to take children as there is plenty to do in the area, such as walking, biking and horse riding. The Hampshire coast also provides some beautiful beaches, ideal for building sandcastles and enjoying water sports.

Where to stay

There are many campsites to choose from across the New Forest, from glamping sites to family-friendly spots. If you are looking to take the whole family away, Green Hill Farm has lots of different activities on offer to suit people of all ages, from fishing to skittle alleys. If you prefer to spend time closer to nature then Ashurst Campsite offers a true forest camping experience. The campsite is secluded and offers direct access into the forest for a relaxing stroll.

The Isle of Wight

If you want to travel across the sea on a ferry, the Isle of Wight could be the perfect place for you. With 13 award-winning beaches it is great if you like spending time by the water. There are also a number of theme parks and adventure playgrounds which are perfect for children.

Where to stay

If you are looking for a quiet getaway on the island then it is worth taking a look at Roebeck Country Park campsite. It's set within quiet woodland with a fishing lake to keep you entertained. Dogs are also welcome here, provided they are kept on a lead. If your ideal location is right on the beach then it is hard to find a spot closer than Grange Farm, which has pitches overlooking the sea. They also have a number of animals including, alpacas, pigs, donkeys and goats which is sure to bring a smile to your face each morning.

Newquay, Cornwall

Newquay is well-known for its beautiful beach which is incredibly popular with surfers. There is so much to do in Cornwall for adults and children, from adventure parks to animal sanctuaries, making it a popular holiday destination. There are multiple nature reserves and many beautiful walks through the Cornish countryside.

When visiting Newquay there are a number of campsites with lots of activities on offer to keep the whole family entertained. Hendra Holiday Park has a large indoor pool with slides, archery lessons, segway tours and many other activities bound to keep everyone busy. If you plan to spend your break on the beach, you can't get much closer than Porth Beach Holiday Park which is only 100m away and has a range of different pitches available.

Brecon Beacons, Wales

If you are looking for an active caravanning holiday, it is definitely worth visiting the Brecon Beacons. There are a range of activities on offer, from canoeing, gorge walking and fishing to quad biking, horse riding and cycling. There are also many walking trails if you'd like a slightly slower-paced break, all with a stunning backdrop.

There are many campsites to choose from depending on the type of holiday you want. If you are simply looking to enjoy the peace and quiet of the Welsh countryside then you might choose to stay at Cwmdu Campsite. Set in an ideal location to enjoy the National Park it is a great spot to begin and end your walks. If you are looking to try something new, Llangorse Lake campsite has a number of activities on offer, including rowing, fishing and water-skiing. 

Sandringham, Norfolk

As one of the locations chosen by the Royal Family as a place to relax, Sandringham is a wonderful retreat in beautiful surroundings and includes a Camping and Caravanning Club Site. There are excellent caravan parks across Norfolk and many interesting museums to visit during your stay. The county's coastline also offers some beautiful beaches, and some even have annual visits from seals!

If you are planning on visiting Sandringham there are a variety of campsites nearby to choose from. There is a Camping and Caravanning Club site on the grounds of the estate which provides the perfect spot to enjoy all the estate has to offer. If you are looking to stay somewhere with entertainment for the whole family, Manor Park Holiday Park has lots to offer including a heated pool and evening entertainment.

Lake District, Cumbria

A very popular place for caravanners, the Lake District is one of the most stunning backdrops to your holiday. Well worth a visit for the views alone, there are also numerous historic houses and unusual museums to visit. It provides the perfect base for keen walkers and there are several caravan parks with direct access to some of the most popular footpaths.

Where to stay

One of the main selling points of the Lake District is the beautiful views you can enjoy. This is certainly the case with Park Cliffe Camping and Caravanning Estate, which has views of Windermere and the surrounding mountains. Another well-placed campsite for enjoying all the Lake District has to offer is Park Foot in Ullswater. With three camping fields there is a lot of space to enjoy.
