Unoccupied home insurance

Some people's lifestyles mean that leaving property vacant is a necessity for them; holiday homes and second properties, former business-units and tenantless premises inevitably fall out of use from time to time, while unfortunate circumstances, like the hospitalisation of the owner, can also leave property unoccupied. Properties awaiting probate, sale or occupation (following sale) are often left empty too.

Whatever the circumstance, usually, any property that is left vacant for 30 days or more is considered an unoccupied property in the eyes of an insurer.

Obviously, when your property is left unoccupied, there is an increased chance that burglary or vandalism may occur; while relatively small faults, like leaking pipes or subsidence, can go unchecked and soon turn into major problems.

If you take out an unoccupied home insurance policy with Towergate Connect, you will benefit from our experience as a leading home insurance specialist and our professional, friendly staff are always willing to help.
