FAQ - Narrowboat Insurance

FAQ

Here are some of the questions we’re often asked. If you can’t find the answer to your question, please call us and talk to our RYA-trained team.

Am I covered for navigating interconnecting tidal stretches?

Yes, you can travel along inland tidal stretches provided it is only to enter or leave the non-tidal system. Our inland waterways expert, Michael Stimpson, can advise if necessary.

Can I pay by direct debit?

Yes, please contact one of our advisers.

My insurers have requested a survey of my boat. Will a BSS certificate suffice?

For insurance purposes the BSS certificate does not provide enough information and a hull condition report is also required.

At what age will my craft need a survey?

Once it reaches 25 years, and thereafter every six years. This can coincide with your BSS certification.
