Professional Indemnity Insurance (PII) provides cover for claims alleging an error or omission (hence sometimes called E&O) in the provision of a Professional Service. Typically, such cover is purchased by traditional “professions” (where it is often compulsory) but it is increasingly considered essential for a wide range of firms and businesses offering any kind of specialist service to their clients.
Claims can be covered whether they arise under common law such as negligence or as a breach of contract. Crucially, in addition to the core cost of any claims, PII incudes the costs of investigating and defending claims. Cover can also benefit from a wide range of extensions including awards by ombudsmen/adjudicators and intellectual property infringement.
As a professional business you will use, hold, send and store data which could make you vulnerable to a cyber-attack. Within our specialist team, we have exclusive access to a risk-management-led cyber insurance proposition as well as additional options from a panel of A-rated insurers.
Our exclusive product not only protects against data breaches, cyber-crimes, fraud, extortion, data or software losses and business liability. In addition, it provides a range of proactive cyber and data security support advice and risk management solutions to identify and expose gaps that could potentially make businesses more vulnerable.
Traditionally known as Directors and Officers Liability Insurance, or Errors and Omissions this is an insurance cover designed to provide financial protection for both senior management and the company itself. There are three key areas which may be included in a Management Liability policy:
Directors and Officers Liability – protecting the personal wealth of the director.
Employment Practices Liability – protection against claims made from former and current employees.
Corporate Legal Liability – protection for the legal entity (business) itself from defence costs relating to civil, regulatory claim or investigation.
Claims that we see often under a Management Liability policy include; mismanagement, negligence, unfair dismissal, breach of fiduciary duty and regulatory investigations such as the Health and Safety Executive and HM Revenue and Customs.
Litigation can come from anywhere, you should ensure your business is fully covered with a comprehensive policy.
When you need to make a claim, we'll guide you through the process and get your claim settled as quickly as possible.
