Motorhome FAQs

If the following apply to you and your vehicle, you may qualify for a quote:

  • You are between the ages of 30 and 74
  • The vehicle is registered in Great Britain
  • You will be using the motorhome for social, domestic, and pleasure purposes only
  • The motorhome meets the insurer's standard underwriting criteria (e.g., not electric, not imported, and engine size does not exceed 3000cc)
  • You own or have sole use of another vehicle for daily transport

Yes, your policy includes several important exclusions. Full information can be found in the policy wording.

Here is a summary of some of those exclusions:

1. Deliberate or Criminal Acts
No cover for damage or liability resulting from intentional actions, criminal use of the motorhome, or attempts to evade law enforcement.

2. Driving Under the Influence or Without Permission
Claims won’t be paid if the driver is over the legal alcohol limit, impaired by drugs, or not named on the Certificate of Insurance.

3. Use Outside Permitted Conditions
Excludes use on restricted roads, in races or competitions, or for hire and reward (including peer-to-peer rentals).

4. Environmental and External Risks
No cover for damage caused by nuclear incidents, war, terrorism, pollution, earthquakes, or sonic bangs.

5. Gradual or Preventable Damage
Damage from vermin, mildew, water ingress, wear and tear, mechanical breakdown, or incorrect fuelling is not covered.

6. Unattended or Unsecured Vehicles
Loss or damage won’t be covered if the motorhome is left unlocked, with keys inside or nearby, or windows left open.

  • You have at least 4 years of proven NCB on a motorhome policy
You may have 1 previous claim if your previous policy had protected NCB
  • You can make up to two claims in any four-year period without losing your NCB
  • If more than two claims are made, your NCB will be reduced according to the step-back scale

Note: Protected NCB does not prevent your premium from increasing after a claim, and underwriters may still apply additional terms.

It is not possible to suspend your motorhome insurance during winter. Even when you are not making use of your motorhome, having motorhome insurance is a legal requirement and your vehicle must be insured against risks such as storm damage and theft.
