Comprehensive Protection for Your Motorhome
Covers accidental damage, fire, theft, vandalism, and malicious damage — plus recovery and accommodation costs if your motorhome becomes undriveable.
Exclusions apply for damage caused by wear and tear, vermin, mildew, water ingress, mechanical breakdown, or incorrect fuelling.
High-Level Liability Cover
Up to £20 million for damage to other people’s property and £5 million for legal costs if you're responsible for injury or damage while using your motorhome.
No cover if the driver is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or using the motorhome for criminal purposes.
Cover for You, Your Passengers, and Named Drivers
Includes anyone driving with your permission (if named on the policy), your passengers, and even your employer if business use is included.
Excludes drivers not named on your Certificate of Insurance or using the motorhome outside of permitted use.
Protection for Personal Belongings
Up to £300 for personal items like clothing, camping gear, and child seats if damaged or stolen during an insured event.
Items must be damaged or stolen as part of a valid claim under Section 2 — exclusions apply for unattended vehicles left unlocked or with windows open.
Windscreen and Window Repairs
Up to £500 for windscreen and window repairs or replacements, with no excess for repairs when using an approved provider.
Excludes damage caused by deliberate acts or use on restricted roads such as racing circuits.
Emergency Travel and Accommodation Support
If your motorhome is damaged and can’t be driven, we’ll cover up to £300 for transport to your destination or overnight accommodation within the UK.
Not available if the damage results from excluded causes such as deliberate acts, criminal use, or driving under the influence.

Here is a summary of some of those exclusions:
1. Deliberate or Criminal Acts
No cover for damage or liability resulting from intentional actions, criminal use of the motorhome, or attempts to evade law enforcement.
2. Driving Under the Influence or Without Permission
Claims won’t be paid if the driver is over the legal alcohol limit, impaired by drugs, or not named on the Certificate of Insurance.
3. Use Outside Permitted Conditions
Excludes use on restricted roads, in races or competitions, or for hire and reward (including peer-to-peer rentals).
4. Environmental and External Risks
No cover for damage caused by nuclear incidents, war, terrorism, pollution, earthquakes, or sonic bangs.
5. Gradual or Preventable Damage
Damage from vermin, mildew, water ingress, wear and tear, mechanical breakdown, or incorrect fuelling is not covered.
6. Unattended or Unsecured Vehicles
Loss or damage won’t be covered if the motorhome is left unlocked, with keys inside or nearby, or windows left open.
You can add up to three additional named drivers to your motorhome insurance policy, subject to underwriting acceptance.
Yes, KGM/FootmanJames motorhome insurance includes up to 180 days of cover per year for travel in the following countries, provided your annual mileage limit is not exceeded.

It is not possible to suspend your motorhome insurance during winter. Even when you are not making use of your motorhome, having motorhome insurance is a legal requirement and your vehicle must be insured against risks such as storm damage and theft.

Unfortunately, we cannot insure electric vehicles, imported vehicles, or any motorhome used as your main vehicle, for business, or as permanent accommodation.

Yes, Footman James can offer cover for left-hand drive motorhomes. However, the vehicle must meet all other underwriting criteria, including ownership and usage requirements.
Yes, self-converted campervans can be insured if they have been inspected by the DVLA and the vehicle registration documents have been updated to show the body type as “motorhome.”

Yes. If you have comprehensive cover, you’re insured for up to £300 for personal belongings lost or damaged due to an accident, fire, theft, or attempted theft—provided a claim is also made under Section 2. Loss of or Damage to Your Vehicle.
Yes. If a child car seat or booster seat is fitted in your motorhome and is damaged in an accident, fire, theft, or attempted theft, it will be replaced in full—provided a claim is also made under Section 2. Loss of or Damage to Your Vehicle.
Yes. If your motorhome is damaged in an accident and cannot be driven, the policy covers:
Transport for you and your passengers to your home or destination (up to £300), or Overnight accommodation (excluding meals and drinks) up to £300.
If your keys or lock transmitter are lost or stolen, the policy covers the cost of replacing locks and keys—up to £750 or 10% of the vehicle’s value (whichever is lower). You must be able to show that the location of the vehicle is known to the person in possession of the keys.
If your motorhome is written off or stolen and not recovered, the insurer will offer a monetary settlement based on the market or agreed value. Once accepted, the vehicle becomes the insurer’s property. You may be offered the option to retain the salvage, subject to a deduction.
