Professional indemnity forms a vital part of our liability package, which also includes Public and Products Liability, and Libel and Slander cover. With our package, you can be sure that your business is covered against a multitude of legal-related risks.
Your policy provides cover for compensation and legal defence costs in the event of claims for professional negligence, breach of confidentiality, and injury to clients or members of the public. Knowing that this is covered by your insurance will give you greater peace of mind.
As well as covering successful compensation claims against you, our policies can also cover you for the defence costs of an unsuccessful claim, including loss of earnings. If you suspect a claim is being raised against you, we’ve teamed up with a 24-hour helpline service which can provide instant impartial advice.
As every profession is open to different risks and claims for unforeseeable events, it's not possible for us to safely recommend a level of cover. It is your responsibility to ensure sufficient cover is in place. However, we can offer full flexibility on your policy, meaning that if you need to raise or lower the level of cover at any time, we can accommodate this. Industry organisations or professional bodies may be able to provide guidance.
Yes. Professionals who send out products, offer advice, or provide services from their own home can still cause harm for which they may be liable. For this reason, it’s important you don’t make an assumption that negligence claims cannot arise while working from home. Speak with an adviser about the potential risks you face.
You may want to consider run-off cover to provisionally cover you against claims made against you for work done while you were practising. Our advisors will be able to set this up for you at the end of your policy.
Being a member of a professional association or industry body can entitle you to preferential rates. Speak to one of our advisers to find out what association benefits you are entitled to.
If you would prefer to spread the cost of your policy, you can set up a direct debit to pay your premium in equal monthly instalments through our preferred provider, Premium Credit Limited (PCL).
