We understand with military personnel that you may not be able to go on holiday if you’re deployed at the wrong moment. Military cancellation insurance is only applicable if the cancellation is necessary and unavoidable, please check your policy wording for a full description of times when this cover applies, or check with our team.
In case you, or a member of your family travelling with you, sustains a serious injury or contracts a major illness, we provide you with a 24 hour emergency assistance helpline. You'll be put through to a team of specialists who will be able to guide you through the situation.
In the following countries: Spain, Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, Turkey and Portugal, out-patient medical treatment (where you are not hospitalised) will be paid via ChargeCare International. This is provided the expenses are likely to cost less than £1,000. All you need to do is provide a copy of your policy schedule to the doctor. Just be aware you may be required to pay your policy excess towards this.
If you're looking for cover for a group expedition or as part of training you'll need a slightly different policy. It offers you cover for a wide range of activities from participating in an annual AWSA event to trekking through Nepal. You can benefit from worldwide cover for over 200 activities with Helivac cover included for emergencies where you may need to be airlifted. Claims on our Military Travel policy are handled by Millstream Underwriting Limited who have a trained claims team on hand to assist you.
In all scenarios please provide Millstream with the original tickets, booking forms and receipts in order to support your claim.
If your claim relates to the cancellation of your trip the travel agent, tour operator, provider of transport or accommodation must be contacted immediately so you can obtain cancellation invoices.
If you become ill or are injured you must speak with the emergency medical assistance service before you cut your trip short.

View infographicIf you have an annual multi-trip policy, your cancellation cover can commence from the time of booking your trip so long as that date is within the period on shown on your policy schedule.
If you have single trip cover with us, you're covered for the dates shown on your schedule and cancellation cover therefore starts from the day your purchased your armed forces holiday insurance policy.
If you have arranged cover for while you are on an adventurous training mission then you are covered to work abroad. If, however, you are working abroad for any other purpose, it is not something we can cover on this policy. We do provide insurance for military personnel whist on duty if this is something you are looking for please visit our Military Insurance page.
Policyholder and spouse or partner living together for at least six months and their dependant children living at home aged 0-17 years (inclusive) (or under 23 if in full-time education and normally living at the family home) on the date of issue.

Yes, as long as you’re travelling West of the Ural Mountains (including St. Petersburg and Moscow). All areas east of the Ural Mountains such as Siberia are classed as worldwide.
