A few insights into windsurf insurance and what it can do for you.
If you’re likely to pack up your windsurf in search of some potent winds from overseas, our policies provide 30 days of cover within Europe per trip. Provided you do not exceed 30 days in any one adventure, all of our policies offer protection in Europe for the same risks as you would be covered here in the UK. Just check the geographical limits in the policy booklet to make sure your destination is included.
If you’re using windsurf leads you to damage to someone else’s property or cause injury to a third party, we have up to £3 million included on all four of our policies to cover your liability, excluding claims for anyone you may employ. If you injure yourself in the process this is not covered as part of your public liability but you can purchase personal accident cover for an additional £5 with our Silver or Gold policies. If you purchase our platinum policy this cover is included as standard.
If you’d like to race with your windsurfer we can add on cover, you’ll just need to speak to us in the office so we can extend the policy. Your sails and spars are what make it all happen and of course they are under strain when you race. We’ll cover them on a new for old basis so you can get fitted with replacements and back out on the water. Your board however will be covered on a market value basis so just keep that in mind when thinking of the value to insure it for.
There are many ways you can accidentally damage your windsurf so it’s worthwhile having cover in place just in case. Our Gold and Platinum policies will insure a variety different damage caused accidentally to your windsurf including collision with underwater objects. Be careful while your windsurf is in transit, if you scrape, bruise or dent it, we will not be able to cover the damage on this policy.
