Hi, my names Ben Leach and I’m an advisor for Towergate. In this video I’m going to talk about the benefits of using a marina as a yacht owner.
Marinas offer some excellent benefits for those who use them including greater security, a more stable mooring and amenities such as electricity hook ups and fuelling stations.
Because they’re more secure and because they’re safer for your yacht, Towergate offer discounts and other benefits to those who moor their yacht in a marina.
Firstly, let’s talk about discounts. Versus swinging moorings, marinas are far safer places to moor up. On a swinging mooring your yacht is more exposed to the elements and there’s a greater risk that your yacht will swing around on the mooring causing damage to the yacht itself or other boats in the vicinity. It may be a little more expensive to moor in a marina but at Towergate we try to negate that cost slightly by offering you 20% off your premium if you moor in an approved marina. If you’re unsure whether your marina is on our approved list, ask a member of our team.
Secondly, if you moor in a marina, you won’t lose your no-claims discount if damage or theft occurs whilst your yacht is moored in a marina. That means in addition to the discounts I mentioned earlier, your premium could get even cheaper.
Lastly, we also offer zero excess on claims which occur whilst your yacht is in an approved marina. That means, if you’re unfortunate and need to make a claim, you won’t need to contribute to that claim amount and you’ll keep every penny.
To take full advantage of our discounts and benefits, make sure you fill out our online quote form fully or, if you’re buying over the phone, ask one of our advisors if you’re eligible for our marina discounts and benefits.
