Our hospice and palliative care insurance policies can include the following features:

Online risk support

Towergate works with Health and Safety Click Ltd to ensure that your hospice complies with health and safety and HR obligations. This service provides information, downloadable policies, procedures and documentation, as well as relevant news. It also features an e-learning tool which includes 11 RoSPA, CPD and NVQ accredited courses.*

Dedicated account management

Our policy puts a hospice's fundamental objectives and specialist requirements at the core. In order to provide you with a bespoke quote that fully meets your needs, our team of business development executives are available to visit your hospice. To maintain this bespoke service, we provide annual and half year face to face reviews.

Cyber cover

Cyber crime is an ever growing problem and hospices are not immune from cyber-attacks. We have a range of cyber insurance products available which will help you to protect your data, systems and reputation.

Hospice liability insurance

Protection against claims made against you for negligence and to cover the costs of litigation. All nurses are automatically covered and this is on a claims made basis, protecting you against medical malpractice claims made against you for events in the past.

*Towergate online risk support is not an insurance product or service and therefore is not regulated by the FCA. It is not subject to the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.

Hospice Insurance Claims

Our in-house hospice insurance claims team is on hand Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm to support you. If you have a more urgent concern, we offer a 24-hour helpline.

For material damage and business interruption claims of over £5,000 you can count on our claims assist team. We will appoint a chartered loss adjuster specialising in the type of loss you have experienced to look after your interests and ensure the entire claims process is handled quickly, fairly and without undue stress.

Lone Workers

An Employer’s Duty of Care to Lone Workers

Domiciliary care workers often work alone. Without a clear understanding of the law, the hazards and what preventative measures should be taken, employers leave their people open to risk and themselves exposed to employers’ liability claims.

Hospice Insurance FAQs

Are hospice volunteers fully covered?

Yes, if they are registered volunteers at your hospice, they are covered in the same way as an employee.

Are fundraising events at my hospice covered?

Yes, the majority would be covered without referral. Our fundraising guide provides details of what type of event does require referral to Towergate.

What is considered our event or a third party event?

It is your event if your staff or registered volunteers are organising it and carrying out the risk assessment. A third-party event is not insured and constitutes an event that you or volunteers are not organising and/or carrying out a risk assessment for.

What can I do to reduce my hospice insurance costs?

Talk to Towergate! There may be cover options and risk management aspects that can help to reduce the cost of your policy.

Can I pay in instalments?

If you would prefer to spread the cost of your policy you have the option of setting up a Direct Debit to pay your premium in equal monthly instalments through our preferred provider, Premium Credit Limited (PCL).

To learn more about how PCL and Towergate work together, please read our regulatory information.
