Rent Guarantee Insurance FAQs

What is rent guarantee insurance?

Rent guarantee insurance means you’ll get your rent covered for you in the event your tenants stop paying. It means you won’t be out of pocket while your tenants sort themselves out – or you sort out an eviction.

Do I need rent guarantee insurance?

Rent guarantee insurance is not compulsory, but it’s a good option if losing your monthly rental income from a property would put you at a significant financial disadvantage.

What’s the relationship between Towergate and Simple Landlords Insurance?

Towergate and Simple are both part of The Ardonagh Group – and that means we can point customers to the brand that will serve them best. For rent guarantee insurance, that’s Simple Landlords.

The Ardonagh Group is the UK’s largest independent insurance broker with global reach. We are a network of over 100 office locations and workforce of nearly 7,000 people.

Can I decide how much to set rent guarantee insurance for?

You can choose your own level of cover based on the amount of rent your tenants normally pay. Lower rent means your premium will be less.

Are there any limitations?

Simple Landlords Insurance will pay up to £2,000 a month to cover your rent for up to 12 months. They won’t cover tenants who have a history of not paying their rent, and they won’t cover claims for the first 90 days of the policy if the tenants didn’t have existing references. After 90 days of no incidents, you’ll be covered.
