Every charity is unique, so the policy that’s right for you needs to specially tailored to your needs. At Towergate, we’ll take the time to get to know your charity and work closely with you to draw up and cost a charity insurance policy that will give you peace of mind.

What is charity insurance?

When comparing charity insurance, you should look for a policy that will cover your not-for-profit organisation for a range of potential risks, such as business interruption, theft, employer’s liability, goods in transit, charity liability and legal protection. Here at Towergate, we can also offer optional covers to suit the unique needs of your charity, depending on the work you do.

Do I need insurance for my charity?

If your charity employs staff or operates vehicles on public roads, insurance is a legal requirement. At Towergate, we advise that all charities think about getting a charity insurance policy in place. Reasons for this include, for example, if your charity office is flooded, business interruption cover, which is included within a Towergate policy ensure that your charity can carry on providing support and generating funds.

What does charity insurance cover?

Each charity fulfils different needs and therefore may have different insurance requirements. Here at Towergate, we offer as standard:

  • Cover for damaged property and possessions
  • All-risk business interruption
  • Charity liability insurance, including public and product
  • Employers' liability - If your charity employs paid staff, employers' liability insurance will protect your charity against claims made for injuries suffered by your staff while they are carrying out work duties.
  • Public liability - If your employees interact with members of the public as part of their job, or if you host or attend events for business purposes, public liability insurance will protect your charity if clients or members of the public suffer personal injury or property damage because of your business.
