Features of Mobility Home Insurance

Standard cover

Specialist mobility equipment for your home

Our mobility home insurance policy includes cover for scooters, wheelchairs, hoists, stair lifts, ramps, floor lifts and oxygen equipment, giving you reassurance that you have protection for your specialist items (T&Cs apply). Please note, damage from wear and tear, mechanical breakdown, or gradual deterioration is not covered under this policy. Accidental damage cover and cover outside the home are optional extensions.

Travel and meal expenses

If your mobility aids are lost, damaged or stolen and you are housebound following a valid claim, our mobility home insurance policy will pay up to £25 per day for travel and meal expenses, such as taxis, takeaways, and grocery deliveries.

Mobility home insurance temporary accommodation

We work alongside The Temporary Kitchen Company to try to ensure that if your home is uninhabitable following a claim, you and your family can stay on the site of your home and make use of a practical, stylish and innovative temporary kitchen and/or bathroom pod.

24-hour legal advice and family protection

Family legal protection and a 24-hour legal advice helpline is included automatically in your mobility home insurance policy. We can also include optional loss recovery assistance - offering you independent advice from an expert loss adjuster. They will deal directly with the insurer on your behalf to help negotiate and settle larger claims.

Mobility Home Insurance FAQs

Question

I have a few necessary expensive and important items and adaptations in my home – will your policy cover these?

Answer

Yes – our mobility home insurance policy provides the same cover as our standard home insurance, as well as cover for specialist equipment, including oxygen apparatus and lifts, at no extra cost to you. Please note, damage from wear and tear, mechanical breakdown, or gradual deterioration is not covered under this policy. Accidental damage cover and cover outside the home are optional extensions.

Question

What happens if a vital piece of my equipment ends up out of service?

Answer

If you have a specialist piece of kit that ends up out of service due to an incident which is covered by your mobility home insurance policy, payment for takeaway food, taxi fares and grocery deliveries will be provided.

Question

In the case of my home becoming uninhabitable, what happens to my equipment?

Answer

If you ever find yourself in the unfortunate situation where your home is not fit to live in (following an incident which is covered by your mobility home insurance policy), we work with The Temporary Kitchen Company to ensure that you and your family can stay on the site of your home - meaning that you can retain some of your home comforts.

Question

My current mobility home insurance is due for renewal very soon, how quickly can you arrange cover?

Answer

We can usually provide immediate cover once you have received and agreed to your quote. We will always try to cater to your circumstances, so just let us know if this is the case.

Question

Will my mobility scooter be covered by mobility home insurance?

Answer

Yes, our mobility home insurance policy includes cover for your mobility scooter. However, please note that damage from wear and tear, mechanical breakdown, or gradual deterioration is not covered. Accidental damage cover and cover outside the home are optional extensions.

Question

Are there any notable exclusions?

Answer

Full terms and conditions are available on request from your Towergate advisor, and in your mobility home insurance policy documents.

Question

Where can I find full details of my policy?

Answer

We have provided a summary of the key features of the policy, above. For details of the terms and conditions applicable, please refer to the insurance product information document and policy wording, which are available during the quotation process.

Question

Can I pay for my mobility home insurance policy in instalments?

Answer

If you would prefer to spread the cost of your policy, you have the option of setting up a Direct Debit to pay your premium in equal monthly instalments through our preferred provider, Premium Credit Limited (PCL).

To find out more about PCL and direct debit payments, select Direct Debit.
