Prefer to spread the cost of your policy?

Paying by direct debit is an affordable and convenient way to pay for your policy. Through our preferred provider, Premium Credit Limited (PCL)*, you have the option of setting up a Direct Debit to pay your premium in equal monthly instalments.

Nursery insurance exclusions

  • Contents cover is subject to minimum standards of security at the premises

  • Loss of registration limit is £100,000 but excluding any cause in your direct control

  • Employers and public/products cover is on a claims occurring basis. The standard limit of indemnity is £10m

  • Personal accident standard death benefit for teaching or support staff is £25,000 and £150 for temporary total disablement. Excluding sickness or disease, psychological condition and suicide

  • Fidelity guarantee maximum amount payable in any one period is £25,000

  • Directors and Officers' cover is on a claims made during the period of insurance basis, with a limit of indemnity of £25,000 during one period of insurance

  • The legal expenses limit of indemnity is £250,000 for any one claim and £1,000,000 for any one period of insurance

  • The legal advice line must be contacted prior to carrying out any disciplinary procedure, making a redundancy or receiving a complaint of sexual, racial or religious discrimination. In respect of any circumstance where the statutory licence might be compromised the legal advice line must be contacted immediately

  • Towergate assist excludes non material damage claims, claims under £5000 and damage caused by subsidence land slip or heave

Nursery insurance FAQs

What should we do if an accident or incident happened on the premises?

It is important you call us immediately and make sure you collect any evidence e.g. take photographs or statements as soon after the incident as possible.

Are staff members covered to administer non-prescribed medicines such as Calpol?

The administration of both prescribed and non-prescribed medicines/drugs are included under the policy.

What age groups are covered under the policy?

Children up to the age of 12 are covered.

Is cover provided for out of school clubs and holiday schemes?

Yes, they are covered at no additional cost.

Are we covered for outings away from the premises?

Yes, under the policy you are covered for organised and supervised outings.

What is CybrHR?

We have teamed up with employment law specialists Abbey Legal Services to bring you CybHR - an online, professional, fully-interactive, legal employment service for your nursery. CybHR will help protect you from the risk of lengthy litigation by giving you access to all the latest information, with a cascade of updates on best practice guidelines, legislation and case precedents. In addition, it will give you access to customisable documentation including: employment contracts, disciplinary procedures, staff handbook, health and safety guides including legal documents.

What is BCARM?

Using our knowledge of the issues you face, we have launched Towergate Patrick Business Continuity & Risk Management - BCARM. This is a bespoke initiative specially designed and targeted to meet your needs. An online solution, it will help you to pro-actively identify risks to your business and take measures to reduce or eliminate the impact should things go wrong.

What is public liability insurance?

Public liability insurance provides cover against your legal liability to pay damages arising out of accidental injury to children, parents or other third parties or damage to their property.

Public liability would provide cover if a visitor to your business premises is injured on site, or if one of your employees injures a third party whilst working for you.

What is employers' liability insurance?

As an employer, you are required by law to have employers liability insurance. It is similar to public liability insurance but relates to damages arising out of accidental injury or job related illness to your employees.

What is professional indemnity insurance?

Professional indemnity insurance protects your nursery business from financial and reputation damaging claims from clients. Even the most professional nurseries can make mistakes or fall victim to dishonest employees when the pressure is on. Professional indemnity insurance ensures that such a mistake doesn't cost you your nursery.

Nursery insurance claims promise

With years of experience insuring nurseries, kindergartens and children's centres, we have designed a policy that has the specific needs of a nursery at its core. We pride ourselves on our personal touch and, from choosing the correct policy through to making a claim our expert team will be on hand to offer impartial advice and support at all times.

Our in house nursery insurance claims team have a combined experience of over 50 years and are on hand Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm to support you. Furthermore, if you have a more urgent concern, we offer a 24-hour helpline too.

In the event of the worst happening, please call, email or write to us using the contact information within your policy documents and we will talk with you about your claim, guiding you through your next steps and taking you through the process.

For material damage and business interruption claims of over £5,000 you can count on our Claims Assist team. We will appoint a chartered loss adjuster specialising in the type of loss you have experienced to look after your interests and ensure the entire claims process is handled quickly, fairly and without unnecessary stress.

In line with our service pledge, we will act within two working days of your claim being notified to us, and within three working days of any new information on your existing claim, to ensure that your claim is settled as quickly as possible.

Most importantly, when your claim is settled we will ensure speedy payment by BACS straight into your bank account.
