A standard feature of contractors public liability insurance is the ability to cover public and employers liability in a single policy if required.
Optional property insurance for your tools, plant and equipment can be included for both own and hired in plant. A full contractors all-risk insurance can be arranged to cover loss or damage to the contract works as well as own or hired in plant and tools.
We provide contractors public liability cover for £1 million upwards. We can also offer higher limits than £10m if you require it for larger specialist contracts.
Contractors liability cover is available for high-risk trades - scaffolding, hot roofing and underpinning. We can also offer cover for contract work in hazardous or high-risk locations, if required.
Building contractors can risk legal action in respect of their liability to the public for accidental personal injury or property damage arising from their activities. You face legal costs when defending the most spurious claim, which may cause financial hardship. Where larger accidents occur, there is potential for substantial compensation awards being made against you.
This underlines the importance of being insured for public liability. As this will cover your legal defence costs and pay compensation awards in the event you found to be at fault for third party accidental bodily injuries and property damage claims arising from your work.
If you engage additional labour, staff and others on contract work, you will need employers liability insurance.
Yes, legal defence costs for liability claims are included as standard in our contractors cover. However, if you want a wider commercial legal expenses insurance for employment tribunal and disputes, then we can arrange this as an optional extra. The limit starts at £100,000 with the option to increase.
