Your policy can be built to suit your needs, with different levels of liability and equipment protection to suit your business. Just speak to your adviser to build the most suitable cover for you.

Window Cleaning Insurance FAQs

Are labour-only window cleaning subcontractors covered in the same way that direct PAYE staff are under the employer's liability policy?

Yes, we can cover labour only sub-contractors, as well as PAYE staff for the same risks under your EL(Employers’ Liability) cover. it is very important to declare how your workforce are employed as this will affect how your risks are calculated affect how your risks are calculated.

Can you provide cover for both commercial and domestic work?

Yes. We can offer insurance for window cleaning which takes place at private homes as well as at commercial properties such as blocks of flats, offices, shops, hotels, restaurants, garden centres, schools, hospitals and much more.

Sometimes I work from the group using a pole system, other times I use a ladder. Can you cover me for both?

Yes, this is fine. Just inform your adviser when going through your quote as we are able to cover both. Additionally, tell us of the height you work up to, and how this is accessed to ensure we can advise you on the necessary cover. Work at height increases the potential risks and may carry restrictions. Speak to a specialist adviser to find out more.

I only use a pole system for my window cleaning, can you cover me?

Yes, we can provide quotes for window cleaners solely using water-fed pole cleaning systems. It’s lower risk than using ladders and can sometimes result in lower premiums so it is definitely worth mentioning to your adviser. It’s also worth covering your window cleaning equipment including whilst it’s in transit in between jobs.

If I were to crack or damage a window whilst cleaning it, would I be covered?

No this would not be covered as damage to items being worked upon is a common exclusion throughout these policies. However, should the shards of glass fall and cause injury to passers by then this would be covered under the public liability insurance, subject to negligence on your part.

Can you provide cover for my van?

Vehicle insurance is not included as part of this policy. However, we do have a separate van insurance policy which can protect your vehicle.
