What Does Minibus Insurance Offer?

Cover for minibuses and coaches

Designed for one or more minibuses with between 9 and 17 seats, our service can cover all under one policy, with one set of paperwork. If you run a fleet and want to add or remove vehicles, simply give us a call and we can make the amendment, the same day. If you have larger vehicles we can cover these on our coach insurance policy too.

Public Liability Cover

In the event of a negligence claim from an injured third party, we have the right cover to protect against the unavoidable. We help you be proactive and ensure accurate measures are in place to be able to protect the company, employees and your vehicle if a claim is made. If the unfortunate occurs, we offer optional £1,000,000 - £10,000,000 public liability cover.

Breakdown cover included

If your minibus breaks down – don’t worry! We’ll make sure you and your passengers are safe with our breakdown cover. We have a nationwide network of approved mechanics, so whether you’re transporting children on a school trip or pensioners to the seaside, you’ll know you are in safe hands and they’ll get you back on the road quickly.

Legal Expenses Cover

We’ve teamed up with the RAC to now be able to offer RAC Legal Expenses, RAC Legal Care. If the unfortunate does happen and you are involved in an accident and you are not at fault, the policy will cover the cost of a solicitor to represent you and help to recover your uninsured loses.

Minibus Insurance Claims

We help manage risk to keep you and your passenger’s safe and that’s a job which never stops. So, we offer a 24 hour claims service. Our claims process is robust and we ensure you understand how to report a claim and keep you informed every step of the way.

Keeping your fleet costs down

To some involved in the road haulage fleet insurance sector, the term ‘risk management’ may still mean little more than claims analysis and driver training. Whilst those can be helpful steps along the path of risk improvement, arguably such measures fail to fully recognise and address some key issues that can have a catastrophic impact on the well-being of not simply truck drivers but various key stakeholders including other road users – and insurers.

Minibus Insurance FAQs

My minibus has less than 9 seats, can you still cover me?

Our policy is designed for vehicles with between 9 and 17 seats. For a smaller vehicle we would recommend speaking with a standard vehicle insurer before talking with us. It is likely that you can find adequate cover for this either on the high street or via on of the many insurance aggregators online.

My minibus has more than 17 seats in it, can you still insure me?

Absolutely, but if you have a vehicle that has more than 17 seats we would class this as a coach and look to offer you insurance under our coach policy.

Can I pay in instalments?

We can offer flexible payment plans, allowing you to spread the cost of your policy over 10 months (subject to the provider’s terms and conditions).

How do I make a claim?

You’ll find the claims number in your policy documents. This line is open 24 hours per day. Our in-house claims teams are on hand to answer any queries and guide you through the claims process.

Can I add drivers to my policy?

Yes, you can add additional drivers to your policy at any time. Simply give us a call and we will be on hand to make the necessary changes. We advise you check the terms and conditions of your policy beforehand to make sure the driver meets the minimum criteria. The cost to make changes to you policy is usually £15.

What type of vehicle am I allowed to drive?

You may be able to drive a minibus if it is not used for hire and reward, so payment in cash/kind on behalf of the passengers.

If you passed your test on or before 1 January 1997, you can drive a minibus up to a maximum of 17 seats, including the driver seat. There are licences called a PCV licence (passenger carrying vehicle) which allow you to drive minibuses with category D1 allowing you to driver a vehicle of 9-16 seats and category D allowing you to drive larger vehicles.
