This does not provide full legal expenses cover to initiate a claim.
Family therapy insurance includes public liability cover which provides cover for the cost of compensating for legal liability to a third party resulting from injury to a member of the public while on your premises, or your business inadvertently causing damage to property in the course of your work. Depending on your needs, you can choose between £1 million, £2 million or £5 million in cover. Family therapy insurance does not cover intentional acts that cause injury to third parties.
If you need to use, recommend or sell products as part of your job as a family therapist, you are covered for utilising, advising or selling products during family therapy, if these products cause any injury, death, illness or disease. However, this excludes products that have been changed – e.g. blended, mixed or tampered with.
Professional indemnity insurance covers legal and compensation costs that arise from claims made against a professional for alleged negligence, errors, or omissions in the course of their work. This may include claims for financial loss, damage to reputation, or breach of confidentiality.

It is essentially your responsibility to take out adequate cover, our advisors can go through your indemnity limit options over the phone. Alternatively, many industry organisations or professional bodies will likely be able to offer you some information.
Professionals who offer advice of some kind, or provide some services from their own home, can still be held liable for alleged negligence, errors or omissions in the course of their work for claims of financial loss, damage to reputation or breach of confidentiality. For this reason, it’s important you don’t assume you can’t be held liable when tucked away in your own home, and that you speak with an advisor about your risks.
When you stop trading or retire you can still have something called ‘run off’ cover. This means that claims raised against you for an event that happened while you were still trading are covered (a claim can be raised any time up to six years. When you are ready we can arrange cover for this.

If you prefer to spread the cost of your annual premium, we offer a quick and easy direct debit scheme.
When you choose to pay premiums in instalments, you will be paying under a Premium Finance plan. We will give you full details of the finance provider, and the additional cost of finance, when we provide you with your payment plan quotation. This will include the total payable, the number of monthly instalments and the cost of each, as well as the representative APR.

Yes, liabilities for working from home is automatically covered in the policy. Just be aware you should notify your home insurer if you conduct part of your business from home as any property damage to your home will not be covered by this family therapy policy and will come under your home insurance policy. If you are having trouble finding insurance for your home because of your work, please contact us to discuss your needs.
We do not need to see a copy of these. You will be insured on the utmost faith that you have experience and qualifications in the area you would like to be insured for. If a claim were made against you, we would then ask to see evidence of your qualification.
Yes, we do not specify how much experience you have or where you studied.
Yes, we can cover work with both animals and humans, please call to discuss. We cannot cover touching of horses working with any dogs under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 or any dogs that are subject to police investigation.
*Yes, we can provide cover for you to work outside of the UK as long as you live and are based in the UK and do not have any assets in the country you would like to work in - for example, a house.
As a family therapist, you may be able to work remotely and if you want to hop on a plane and work abroad, we can provide cover in respect of civil liabilities in connection with your business for up to 60 consecutive days. This cover can extend to a client’s property; a rented practice room; and even electronically, via the internet or the telephone. Cover is excluded for any action brought in any court of The United States or Canada.
