Public liability insurance for your barbers

It's important you arrange public and products liability insurance for your barber shop, to protect you against potential claims from customers or members of the public arising from an error that was your fault. Choose from £1m, £2m, £5m or £10m cover limits to suit your needs or speak to one of our specialist advisers to find the right cover level for you.

Flexible barber shop insurance to suit your business

Our barbers insurance can be tailored to your shop's needs, with a range of protection options. These include business interruption insurance to cover your ongoing costs if your business suffers a significant insured incident such as a fire or flood that stops you trading, and cover for theft of cash kept on the premises in and out of hours.

Barber shop employers' liability insurance

If you employ staff at your barbers you must under UK law have employers' liability insurance. This protects you in case an employee injures themselves whilst working in your barber shop and subsequently raises a compensation claim against you. Our barber shop insurance can include employers’ liability cover up to £10 million as standard so you are protected against this risk.

Does your barbers insurance cover me for mobile barbers work?

Yes, we can insure you for any work away from your barbers and can offer self-employed barber insurance policies with public liability up to £5 million.

Can you cover specialist equipment when I am away from the barbers?

Answer

Yes, we can cover your barbers equipment away from the premises. Just make sure it is not left unattended.

What happens if there is a fire at my barbers shop?

Answer

We offer business interruption for our barbers insurance, to help cover you for any disruption due an insured incident. We will cover for loss of gross profit over periods of 12, 24 or 36 months.

Is stock for my barbers covered?

Answer

Yes, we can cover for any stock and contents at your barbers shop, including tills. Premiums will depend on underwriting criteria such as the salon security, total value of stock and premises postcode.

Can I add additional barbers shops to my policy?

Answer

Yes, you can grow your barbers insurance with your business. If you open up another barbers, take on new staff or buy new equipment, let us know and we can update your policy to accommodate your changes and ensure you are not underinsured.

Does your barbers insurance cover me for ear piercing?

Answer

Ear and nose piercing is not included as standard, but can be included under your barbers insurance policy with full details. Please talk to one of our advisers to arrange for your cover to be extended to include this.

How many employees can I cover?

Answer

We don’t put a limit on the number of employees you can cover. However, if you take on new staff after you’ve taken out your policy, please let us know so that we can update your policy and keep you covered.

What is the difference between public liability and employers’ liability?

Answer

Public liability covers you for claims from a customer or a member of the public for an injury for which you are liable (e,g. tripping over and injuring themselves) within your premises. Employers' liability is similar and covers you for any injuries or illnesses suffered by your employees as a result of your business.
