Discover trailer tent insurance from Towergate:
We don’t want you to feel restricted when you travel so if you feel like touring the Europe in your trailer tent then our insurance covers most countries within the EEA. Our cover in Europe is for the full 365 days of the year but there are still a few countries where we can’t provide cover so it’s best to check your policy wording to be sure. If you choose a new for old policy you can go a little further afield but again, make sure you check the geographical exclusions before you travel.
Storm damage may be one of the most common claims on trailer tent insurance so it’s good to know when those rain clouds start grouping overhead; our policy provides cover for damage. This will include damage from weather such as strong winds, lightening, hail stones and more.
Imagine an accident on the road which causes damage to your trailer tent. It may leave you unable to tow it back home however, our policy includes RAC for emergency towing assistance. You’ll find the contact number in your policy booklet or you can double check with one of our helpful team, either way we recommend jotting it down before you travel. Please be aware this cover does not extend to towing your car if you have a breakdown.
It may be a little easier to tow a trailer tent than a full size caravan but accidents can still happen. Our trailer tent policy is designed to cover miss-haps too, if you accidentally bump or scrape yours, the policy will cover repairs. It’s important to remember that like most folding caravan insurance policies, our cover does not include wear and tear or mechanical breakdown but with a little care and maintenance you can usually avoid these kinds of repair.
These are just some of the key features and exclusions, full details will be found in your policy wording. Show policy documents
We are on hand from 9-5 on weekdays to assist you with the process of making your claim.

It’s helpful for the team to check photographs of damage so they can assess the next steps to getting you back on the road. Make sure you take a few and send them to us.

The UK’s eating out sector is set to grow 2.2% in 2016 to a value of £56.3 billion by 2019 and no one is capitalising on that growth more than street food sellers and mobile catering companies. It’s estimated that street food is eaten by some 2.5 billion people each day, worldwide.

Owning a touring caravan offers holidaymakers a unique way to experience and explore destinations by adding one vital ingredient, independence. Self-sufficiency allows caravan owners to dictate the pace and destination of their holidays more than any other kind of traveller is able to, but being protected is vital.
Whilst left unattended you'll be required to protect your trailer tent using one or more security devices. The level of security we recommend depends on the value of your trailer tent, so:
-Under £5k = A wheel clamp
-Between £5k - £15k = A wheel clamp + 1 other security device i.e. a hitch-lock
-£15k plus = We recommend you speak with an adviser, though you still need just 2 devices, 1 or more of them must be considered to be a category 2 device depending on other details like where it's stored.
An excess is the first amount you would pay towards your claim. Our trailer tent insurance policy gives you options to set your excess at £0, £100 or £250. Your excess will also be insured, so if your claim relates to accidental damage, theft, fire or vandalism you will not pay towards the claim. This cover is limited to £250 of excess per year.
There are several locations where our insurance can cover your trailer tent whilst stored. If you choose to store it at your home then in your garden, on your driveway or in your garage are all suitable but you cannot store your trailer tent on a public road as your insurance will no longer be valid if it gets stolen. If you store it on a site we have some requirements the site must meet so it is deemed secure enough. We ask that parks and caravan storage sites must have a perimeter fence around the storage area and locked gates onto the site. It's often worth speaking with the team to ensure we can help.
We can cover; caravans, Airstreams, pop-ups, folding campers, trailer tents and 5th wheelers, just ask our helpful caravan team. In addition we can cover horse trailers but through a different part of Towergate. Click here to view the page.
