If you use, recommend, or sell products as part of your occupational therapy, you need cover in case they cause bodily injury, death, illness or disease during the treatment. Product liability insurance for occupational therapists provides this cover. However, note it excludes products that have been changed, such as mixed, blended or tampered with.
Public liability insurance for occupational therapists covers claims for bodily injury or property damage to third parties. Depending on your needs, you can choose between £1 million, £2 million, or £5 million in coverage. Occupational therapy insurance does not cover intentional actions that cause harm to third parties.
Professional indemnity insurance protects occupational therapists from claims of professional negligence and violations of professional codes of practice, as well as financial loss for advice given or services provided. In addition to any damages or fees your client may get, occupational therapy coverage covers defence-related costs and legal fees up to the limit of indemnity provided within the policy schedule. Intentional negligence is not covered.
Occupational therapy insurance policyholders can use a 24/7 legal helpline to discuss any concerns you have issues about your occupational therapy work or your practice.

Professionals who send out products, offer advice of some kind, or provide some services from their own homes can still cause harm for which they may be liable. For this reason, you mustn’t assume that you can’t do any damage when tucked away in your own home and speak with an advisor about your risks.

When you are ready, we can arrange cover for you for this.
