Makeup Artist Insurance FAQs

Do you cover all types of makeup application?

We cover standard makeup application, as well as semi-permanent makeup, micro-blading and eyelash extensions. The main thing we’re not able to cover currently is permanent makeup application.

Do I need to send you my relevant qualifications?

We don’t ask for copies of your qualifications in order for you to take out this policy. However, in order to be eligible to claim, you must be qualified to at least a NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in the treatments you are providing. In addition to this;

  • You have previous experience in the area you are developing
  • You have performed a patch test on your clients where applicable
  • Your tutor must hold a minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and one level higher than those they are demonstrating to
  • Your tutor must hold an assessors award
  • There is an examination/assessment on the course
  • The policy has no previous losses relating to treatments
I do additional beauty therapy treatments, not just makeup. Can you cover me for these?

Yes, we can cover a wide range of beauty therapy treatments. Simply let us know what treatments you provide and we can let you know if they can be covered under this policy or not. To give you an example, we cover body massage, spray tanning, nail technicians, waxing and facial care – so there’s a wide scope available.

Do you recommend a specific level of cover?

Our advice is always to take out the maximum level of cover you can reasonably afford. We provide a range of indemnity limits upon referral but £5 million in indemnity as standard.

Can I pay in instalments?

If you would prefer to spread the cost of your policy, you may have the option of setting up a direct debit to pay your premium in equal monthly instalments through our preferred provider, Premium Credit Limited (PCL). Please note that this is only available on our salon policies and not to individuals.

To find out more about PCL and direct debit payments, select direct debit.

To understand more about how PCL works together with Towergate, please read our regulatory information.

Where can I find more information about monthly direct debit?

If you want to know more about our monthly payment option, please read our dedicated page on direct debit.
