Tell us if you’re a member of a classic motorcycle club and we’ll see what we can do to provide a specialist rate for your cover. We work with a huge number of clubs. Visit our full list of clubs and see if yours is listed. If your club is not listed please do get in touch and we’ll see if we can get in touch with your club and strike up a deal!
If you only do a handful of miles per year on your classic bike, we can offer you a reduced premium. Our reduced premiums start at 1000 miles or less per year and go all the way up to 10,000 miles per year at which point you’ll need to be part of the VJMC or the VMCC to be eligible for a reduced premium.
We provide cover for your accessories as standard. It’s a flat rate all the way up to £750 so as long as the total value of your leathers, helmet, boots gloves and clothing falls below that limit, we’ll reimburse you if they’re damaged whilst you’re using your motorcycle. Please also be aware that there is £25 excess on this policy feature.
Footman James can tailor your policy to include extra cover for your extra special bike. Addons include; spare parts cover, European motoring cover, ride to work (commuting use) and ‘agreed value’ cover which often means your bike will be insured for a more accurate value based on aspects such as history and added value through restoration. Furthermore, if you purchase more classic bikes while you’re insured with us, you can add them to your policy as you go. When you make a new purchase, simply give us a call and we’ll adjust your policy accordingly.

What should I do if I have an accident? Firstly make sure you're safe. Next, ensure you obtain the name and address of any people involved, including passenger names. Make sure you report any claim, accident, theft or loss as soon as possible to the claims team at Footman James. Please also send any writ, summons or letters received in connection with any claim, accident or loss as soon as you receive them to help us keep your claim moving.
If you receive any notice of prosecution, inquest or fatal accident inquiry connected to the incident get in touch with the claims team as soon as possible. Lastly, we advise you to you report the vehicle's theft or use without your consent immediately to the police and obtain a crime reference number.
If you or your vehicle are involved in an incident (such as an accident, theft or fire) covered by your policy please call the telephone help line number shown in your documents.

As standard you are covered for 35 days at a time in all European Union member states plus; Norway, Switzerland and Lichtenstein. You can increase this limit by purchasing one of our FJ+ add ons which will allow you to travel for up to 90 days at a time.
If you joined us before April 2016 and you’ve misplaced your hard copy documents, simply give us a call and we’ll resend them to you so you can remind yourself of what you’re covered for. If you joined us in April 2016 or after, you may have decided to go paperless and store your documents online. In this case, you won’t have received any paper documents and you will be able to view your documents on our document portal. If you’re unsure if you went paperless or you would like a hard copy any way, please do give us a call and we’ll happily send your documents out to you.
‘Agreed value’ means the value of your bike will be considered more carefully at the start of your policy and this will be the amount your insurers will pay out if you write off your motorbike , rather than what it’s worth on the market at that time. We offer this because we understand what adds value to a bike. For example, if you owned a Triumph TR6 Trophy it might be worth £4000 however, if you owned Steve McQueen’s Triumph TR6 Trophy from The Great Escape, it would be worth considerably more. So, ‘agreed value’ takes into consideration this sort of information plus information such as how many awards it has won, any restoration you may have done to increase the value and history (e.g. first off the line or special edition).
With our multi bike policy you can cover as many bikes as you like! You can also add bikes to your policy as you purchase them. Just be sure you phone us to update your policy.
‘Classic’ means different things to different people. Normally we consider bikes as classic once they are 15 years old, however for some clubs we can cover bikes from 10 years old. If you’re unsure, give us a call, let us know which club you’re with and we’ll do the rest.
You cannot reduce your excess however, as part of our range of FJ+ add ons, we offer the opportunity to have your excess reimbursed in the event of a claim. We have various options available to enable you to do this so it’s best to speak to our advisors to establish which feature is right for you.

We can offer breakdown assistance packages which cover you if you don’t even make it off the drive way or if you’re abroad in Europe.
