Not only are there three, six, nine and twelve month policies to choose between but there are also three levels of cover available. All of the policies include property owner’s liability and subsidence cover. It’s also important to check the excess that applies to each aspect of cover as these may vary from feature to feature.

Just note, the policy may offer limited cover for larger projects such as structural repairs, roofing and other major works.
We know you might want to cover more than your property by itself and so our policies include cover for your contents up to £40,000 and cover for any legal expenses you may incur up to £50,000. We pledge to act within 24 hours of receiving your claim and within five days if you provide new information on an existing claim. Our approved suppliers and loss adjusters will also ensure they contact you within 24 hours to ensure your claim is handled with utmost efficiency and ease.
Furthermore we believe in giving you options, you can choose to use an approved supplier and we will organise repairs and finance, or select your own contractors and we will pay them directly.

Most providers will not insure or may reduce cover for properties which are left unoccupied for more than 30 days at a time. Cover from insurers who specifically deal with unoccupied properties is catered towards risks associated with unoccupied property in particular.

For your buildings you need to take into consideration not only the cost of rebuilding the main property but also any outbuildings, swimming pools, boundary walls etc. The value should include solicitor and surveyor fees and demolition costs. With your contents you need to consider all household goods and personal property within your unoccupied property and how much you would have to pay to replace them as new. We make a deduction for wear and tear for clothing and linen.
You are entitled to a full refund of the premium paid if you find the policy unsuitable for your needs and cancel it within 14 days of receipt of your policy documents (as long as no claims have been made). If you need to cancel your cover you will be charged relevant administration costs for setting up the policy.
If you cancel your cover after the 14 day period the following cancellation conditions apply:
If the policy has been issued on a short term basis (90, 182, or 273 days duration) there will be no premium refund in the event of cancellation.
If the policy has been issued on an annual basis (12 months) the Insurer will retain a charge of 50% of the pro rata return of premium. Where a claim has been made during the current period of insurance no refund or credit of premium will be due.
Please call us or notify us in writing with the reason for cancellation and state the date from which you need cover to cease. Remember, if your policy is in more than one name, all policyholders will need to sign the letter. If you have any other queries please don't hesitate to contact the customer services team.
